The Aberdeen Hockey Association is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dana Myhre as the Boys Varsity Head Coach and Amy Munsterman-Wills as the Girls Varsity Head Coach for the upcoming season. AHA sought the most qualified and dedicated individuals to lead our flagship varsity programs, and we are confident that Dana and Amy are the ideal choices. Both coaches bring extensive experience, unwavering passion, and the skills necessary to guide our teams toward state championship contention while instilling valuable life lessons through the game of hockey.
Dana and Amy are exceptional leaders with deep roots in the hockey community. Their proven track records and commitment to player development make them the perfect fit to elevate our varsity programs and inspire our athletes both on and off the ice. With long-standing histories in the sport, Dana Myhre and Amy Munsterman-Wills are poised to lead AHA’s Boys and Girls Varsity teams to new heights. Their expertise and dedication will foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and growth within the Aberdeen Hockey Association.
AHA will schedule a “Meet the Coaches Night” soon for both the boys and girls varsity teams. Please be on the lookout for this opportunity for players and families to meet their new head coaches.
Aberdeen has a proud history as a leading hockey community with strong membership and participation across all levels. As we have evaluated our association, it’s clear that our greatest opportunity for growth lies in elevating the quality of our hockey programs.
Our board is committed to enhancing the experience for all players and improving our competitiveness across every age group. Through our recent partnership with the Aberdeen Wings, we’ve developed a clear vision to achieve higher standards, better development, and greater accountability on the hockey side. While these improvements involve increased membership costs, every additional dollar directly supports our players through expanded camps, enhanced coaching standards, and a consistent development strategy.
As we build Aberdeen Hockey and invest in the on-ice product, I am reminded of this quote by James Clear, “You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” We are implementing systems for on and off-ice player and coach development with guidance from the best Junior Hockey coaching staff in the NAHL. Our goals are to grow our membership, elevate AHA as one of the premier hockey programs in South Dakota while instilling values that will positively impact the lives of our players and families. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to make this happen.
